Legal basis
Waste Management Act (WMA) has obliged all producers or importers of packaged goods to collect, recycle and recover their packaging waste.
Producers and importers have obligation to achieve targets for recycling and recovery of packaging waste generated in result of the use of the produced/imported goods.
The targets are quantitative. They are determined in the Waste Management Act as a percentage of the total quantity of packaging waste generated.
Producers and importers may fulfil the specified obligations:
- individually, by organizing themselves the collection and recovery of their packaging waste;
- through joining a collective system represented by a "recovery organization such as ECOPACK BULGARIA.
